The Robin Reliant comment made me laugh. Del Boy and Rodney would be proud.
I adore my Kali LP-8s, and my overall thought every time I listen through them is "I can't believe these were only $400 for the pair." They're so full and rich and clear and the ability to tune them via the dip switches is incredible at this price point. Yes there's a "hiss" but they sit about 3.5 feet from me and I don't notice unless I listen for it. (Quieter than my computer fan.) Kali must be causing headaches for other manufacturers!!
I've heard it referenced in several videos, but It would be really nice to see the room treatment in your room. – Even one of your studio tours (of your own studio & gear)!
I just got the LP-8's a few days ago. Wow, these things are great. Really flat, can get really loud, and have ZERO need for a subwoofer. I've remixed two tracks that I was working on recently, and checked them on a number of different systems, and I'm amazed by how much better the tracks translate from system to system. Thanks for bringing Kali Audio to our attention, Warren! I could not be any happier with them!
The other guys are a better interview but this guy is more technical.
Word of the Year 2020 – KaliHiss
listened to the 6" and the 8" . Impressive monitors. Priced like your stealing them. Might get the 6" as companions to my HS8s.
Wasted my 5 minutes. The engineer should've fixed it himself without stopping. Plus who cares. We want information
Love the channel but the mikes this time "phase" . I know it´s about the content .. but 🙂
can someone do like a time stamp of topics ?!!! PLease lol !!!
cant even sort your own mic ghost echo!!!!
Charles is a great guy, doing amazing work. He's solved a lot of problems using the most modern techniques – basically realizing that ALL speakers have flaws and how to minimize them – at reasonable prices.
Really interested in the Kali's (LSR user here) but to be honest, I don't like their design at all.
I am thinking of replacing my audio monitors and I am in doubt between the kali audio lp6or8 or Adam T7V, but Kali audio still not be available in europe
Thank you Charles & Warren!
for the europeans: To your statement at 1:02:15 I did that and asked thomann to get them as soon as possible. But they told it's getting close for december, cause the "waste electrical equipment guarantee" (EAR Registry) for your brand is still missing. So it's on you Kali audio to bring this to europe!! 😉 Please for the love of god do this as fast as you can 😀
What I am not getting straight: Why bass traps and then using subwoofers !? Is it, that the bass traps cancel out the energy of standing waves ? And why then in the upper area of the room ?
Great interview, so glad you're making hours long interviews. But let me say, I don't think you're a great listener, the man's trying to talk technicals of audio, we are audio nerds
Sincerely hope the LP6s end up with Australian distribution. Really want to grab a pair but no one will ship here.
who won the kali give away?
Sorry to come to this very valuable thread so late, but if the power of monitors isn't crucial, but it's more to do with positioning/distance (which I really get!) What about frequency response at lowder/quieter levels??? I understood that (maybe due to room?) the audio/sonic responses vary with volume ????? This is certainly true of headphones. Sorry if already covered. Keep, keep doing!!!!
Haha listening to this and it sounds like an amateur working out of their bedroom might have a decently well treated room without even realizing it
Using JBL LSR4328p with the 4312 sub (2.1 system) at home. Adam A7X and sub12 at work in (5.1 system).
This is a really great video!! The room I use is a rectangle room and small set of mixcubes, My question is when I make diffusers should I follow a formula or just make them random?
I'm into a variety of music so choosing a fave track for evaluating a mixing setup is tricky. I'd probably choose a spread: Joe Satriani (something from Flying in a Blue Dream); some kind of piano symphony and then perhaps something super heavy but well produced, like Chaimira's Nothing Remains. I want to hear dynamicism, clarity and depth. I want the tones to raise hairs on my skin – even at lower volumes but i want the same experience turned way up. And also to listen to the same album over and over, to work out if I'm getting physically tired.
I'm limited to my Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones while I procrastinate over monitors. All i really want is some decent audiophile hifi speakers and a small form factor power amp. But the market is changing and monitors are the way to go. So many cheap ones have over-emphasised bass (KRK Rokits) or they lack a decent frequency range. I finally found the Tannoy Reveal 802s which have an amazing range for the price – but the manufacturer hides the dB figures e.g. +/- 3db etc so they could be abysmal. Then there's the Mackie MR624 which looks good… but does it actually out-perform something like the Focal Alpha 65s? It's such a confusing market. I might just resort to monitoring through my hifi (Yamaha R-N500 and Focal Aria 906).
Epic video. Thanks for the great videos. We are big fans of your channel. Would love to see video on gain staging and how hard to push a mix level wise so that the mastering engineer doesn't kill you. We are a Country Rock band based in Ireland, check out our channel if you get a chance. Would love to work with you sometime.
we never got to hear their speakers
Check out that dudes stash!! 5:09. Sweet!
That's the reason why I'm still on my Digi003+, no built in mixers and routing to confuse my tiny little human brain.
Distribution in South East Asia please!
Might be a silly question. But i have a pair of mackie hr824 mk2s. An thinking to go with something front ported maybe some adams a8? as my speakers are close to walls an corners. Im having some sub bass issues even with bass traps.
Thanks in advance
Hello all! We are going to try to get to everyone's questions today. In the meantime, you can also ask us questions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/9ne8ce/we_are_kali_audio_we_left_jbl_pro_in_january_to/
I have the cd of Selling England By The Pound , and still marvel at the mix done on 16-track !
What a brilliant guest! You know I love the tech details.
Technical Difficulties !
Hi Warren. How do I collect my free year membership to the academy that I won today? I can't wait to start!
Warren is Lennonized with doubling echo lol
Thank you for the great video Warren and Charles! Very informative 🙂 I will start that discussion about my room in the Academy forum later tonight when I get home from work where I can take some pictures.
In all honesty, I'd love to hear more of the "nerdy" stuff. It's probably not very sexy – am I allowed to say that? -, but very important to really understand and to really make the best use of the tools at hand. Love it! Again, the little remarks on the side are so interesting! Thanks a lot!
